Fire from our land damaged neighbours land can he claim compensation

Sir, Fire spreads from our agricultural land to our neighbor's land. He filed a case against us. He lost a few of his rubber trees. Now he is asking an amount of 6 lacks as compensation. We refused to give and decided to go for case. What could be the possibilities of winning the case as it happended just accidentally.

The query is deficient in basic information. If he has lost only few trees, why he is seeking 6 lakhs as compensation? The court fees would be more than Rs. 50,000/- . If the facts are true, then the filing of the suit could be a pressure tactic to get a fat amount from you through compromise. In the absence of material facts, it would be too hasty to offer any definite suggestion.
