Father brought land when we were in joint family can brother ask share

07-Mar-2023 (In Property Law)

Hi, I have one query, here is my father and my 3 uncle. My father purchased piece of land on his name in 2003, At that time there was joint family. Also none of my uncle given any contribution in this purchase. Now they are claiming their share in the land saying that family was undivided during the purchase. Can anyone of them claim in that land? Also, FYI..there is no ancestral income at the moment(Grandfather is no more and grandma has no income) As my father is elder so taking care for them. your reply in this is highly appreciated

As the land has been purchased in the sole name of your father and the land has also been purchased out of his own personal funds therefore none of your uncles can claim over that property. Their might be a joint family but still people can purchase property in their individual name.
None of them can claim in that land.

Dear Sir,
If it is a self acquired property then your uncle's HV no claim over the said property.
However if it had been a ancestral property then your uncle's could claim their interest.
However. Pl. Share the relevant property papers to tell you the status.
Pl. Feel free to contact in case of any clarification.
