Can mother have right in property of grandfather

1.Near Chennai my maternal Grandmother had some property and my maternal grandfather (he has 2 sons 2 daughters my mother is one among them) sold that property on 1980 he bought few houses near tirunelveli on my own uncles name(my moms brothers). My mother did not sign it when they sold. 2.At the same time my paternal grandmother had some property near chennai and my maternal grandfather(he is relative to my paternal grandma) sold it on 1990 and he bought few houses near tirunelveli on my own uncles name once again My mother did not sign it when they sold. Does my mother has right in property

If the properties were self-acquired by your grandparents then they have the complete right to dispose off the property according to their wish. Your mother cannot claim for the right in the property. If the property was an ancestral property then the property will be divided according to the provisions of the Hindu Successions Act.
