23-Aug-2023 (In Property Law)
I am a Lady married 25 years back, and now parents are ready share a property as they are dividing it my family members. But my elder brother says that they had paid dowry for me during my marriage and I will not a part of legal heir now. He is very much reluctant about it. I want not know , Can't be part of legal heir now though my parents are willing to share their property?
Hi
You have every right to claim a share of your parent's / grand parents property as it is your right.
The hindu succession act was amended in the year 1986 by Shri.N.T.Ramarao wherein women were accorded equal status as of men in all of the properties (self acquired/ancestral properties) .
You are very much a legal heir and you have every right on the property.
