In case where your grandfather died in 1986, his daughters cannot claim share in the self acquired property of your grandfather. The property will be divided among your grandmother and your father. You can claim for share in the property that falls under your father’s share. According to recent Supreme Court judgment daughters have equal right in the self acquired property of father if the father dies after September 2005.
