Can daughters claim in property received by father

22-May-2023 (In Property Law)
My late grand father purchased property from a seller. He has 2 sons. He died before distributing property to sons. After mutual understading, the property was equally distributed to my father and his brother. I have 3 elder sisters all married. My father will gift me property as love. Can my sisters claim property after registry of gift deed? Does this property remains ancesteral?. Sikh religion

Property received by father through partition is regarded as self acquired property of the father and father can dispose of or transfer the property in manner he wishes to. He can transfer the property in your name through registered gift deed. Your sisters cannot challenge such transfer.

Please clarify the meaning of "property divided by mutual understanding" because with the meaning of "mutual understanding" only it can be determined if the property is self acquired or ancestral. If the property is self acquired then your father can gift it to you by executing a gift deed without inviting any legal objections from your sisters but if it is ancestral then your sisters can claim their right in the property. We can provide you any further advice on the basis of documents.
