Can BMC ask me to pay bank loan taken by previous owner

02-Apr-2023 (In Property Law)

I have taken a property in BMC 11 years ago and have not received the documents in my name. Today i have received a letter from BMC that the property shall be transferred in my name only if i pay the pending amount of loan taken by the previous buyer. What can i do?

As per your query, if the loan was taken against the property then the bank has the right to sell the property and recover the pending dues for the loan. Otherwise, you'll have to pay off the loan first in order to get the property transferred to your name legally.
