BMC saying our property is unauthorized and will be demolished

We have a documented property in Thane. Now they want to make a road so they are telling that our property is unauthorized and they will demolish the same. What action can we take in this situation?
The government can acquire any property for the use of public purpose. In case you have a registered property, the government can acquire your property for construction of road and pay compensation for the property acquired by the government for such purpose.
