10-Nov-2023 (In Property Law)

property; which I got through veelunama from my aunt(daddy sister); Now their children are claiming that is their property and veelunama I had is not valid. This agriculture land; I am paying land fees(thaaseel) from last 15 years and I have passbook and adungal on my name. I sold the land to my sister; now my aunt children sent me a lawyer notice that this is their land and stating my sisters are not eligible to apply for passbooks. How should I respond to that notice. What is my elgibility on that land and if she goes to court; what are my chances of winning?

If you mean by veelunama as " Will" and if on the basis of the Will, you transfered the property in your name and have been paying appropriate  taxes for 15 years and the Will was not challenged, then you have strong defence and hence you need not worry.

We suggest consult a local lawyer and reply to the legal notice thereby reteriating the facts as given in your query. Regarding what chanes you have to win the case, can be advised only after examining the documents
