Am I liable to pay half amount for boundary with adjacent plot

28-May-2023 (In Property Law)
I have a plot in Jaipur. It had very basic and minimal boundary when we bought it 8-10 years ago. Now, houses are built on the neighbouring plots. And, we decided to raise the height of front boundary and have put a gate. The remaining 3 boundaries (apart from front) are with adjoining neighbours. One of the neighbours is demanding half contribution for the common boundary fence. What is the law regarding this? Are we bound to pay? How do we value it? Do we need to take anything in writing if at the end we are paying to him? Thanks Religion - Hindu
