My car is used by my relatives will I be liable in case of accident
05-Jul-2023 (In Motor Accident Law)
Dear Sir, I have a car and some times my friends, relative take my car for 1 or 2 days sometime even for months. So I want to know that If my friend, relative do the accident with my car or use my car in any illegal activity so who will face the consequence of that action. I (owner) have to face the legal issue or my friend, relative have to face the legal issue. Do I need to do the agreement before give my car and If yes than how to do it. This type of activity comes in commercial or private because I do not take any money from them. Kindly please reply. Thanks Suraj Sharma
Since you are lending your car for the personal use therefore it will come under private use. The car is registered under your name therefore any illegal activity carried out by your relatives or friends or any accident that takes place involving your car, you will be held liable and you will be liable to pay compensation of the victim of the accident.
