Harrassed for money by bike rider injured by my Car not my fault.

05-Feb-2023 (In Motor Accident Law)

Bike rider banged into my car. No fault of mine. Rider fractured his leg. I took him to hospital immediately. Now a group of his community came to my house with a politician. Harassing me for financial compensation. I am afraid. I don't want a legal case against me. I want this daily harassment to stop. What should I do?

"The person driving the bike should ideally be compensated in the MACT by the insurance company if (i) the vehicles were insured and (ii) if it can be shown that he was not driving rashly at the time of the accident. As far as the harrasment you are facing is concerned, file a complaint with the local police station. Do note that whenever a road accident occours, the police are bound to lodge an FIR.
However, this would apart from the complaint that you would have to file. If the problem persists, approach the DCP and also issue a legal notice. Then you may approach the magistrates court to file a criminal complaint case against the persons harrassing you."
