After one week of accident they are asking for car damages

On a traffic signal, there was a car in front at stationary position due to red light. I applied breaks, however due to water bottle lying below the break paddle I could stop the car. There was damage on the rear end of the car which was stationary at front and my car also got damaged too. This incident happened one week back. At that time person who was in other car came out and had little argument and then went away as soon as the signal went green. Few days back I received mail from that person asking for loss of no claim bonus and other charges.
In case of an accident the victim of the accident can claim for compensation for the loss suffered. Compensation can be claimed by the insurance company of the accused.
