Now file an RTI in few clicks
July 10, 2017Since the enactment of Right to Information Act 2,74, 737 applications have been filed under different department and agencies of Delhi. From today, CM of Delhi is all set to inaugurate online RTI portal for ease of access to information. With this portal, the process of filing, tracking, payment, and response will be available at few clicks. This portal will even enable filing of appeals online. According to the government, Delhi is the first Union Territory to make the filing of RTI and related process online.
Further, the administrative reforms department which is the nodal agency for monitoring and effective implementation of RTI Act in Delhi Government has decided every department will have a nodal officer of its own for RTI. The officer will be responsible for ensuring for ensuring that applications go to the right public officer. Currently, 172 government departments have registered on the portal.
Kailash Gahlot, who is currently the in charge of administrative reforms and information technology, “One can file the application online, once that is done the portal will allow tracking of the status by a citizen. There will be pendency report available and e-mail and SMS alerts will also be provided. The purpose is to cut down the number of steps involved in the process. In fact, the documents can be uploaded and mailed to the applicant. This will allow the applicant to have a soft copy which they can print whenever required. RTI fee will be payable through the SBI e-payment gateway.
To make the filling procedure simple there will be a separate section on the portal providing guidelines and frequently asked questions. There will also be a feedback mechanism.
All these steps have been taken by the government to make the RTI experience free of cumbersome process.
