Homeowners lodge FIR against Jaypee for delay in possession
April 17, 2017A police case was filed against Jaypee after many protests by investors of Wish Town on Saturday, related to their mega housing project in Noida that has 35,000 flats. The FIR was lodged late on Saturday, at the Yamuna Expressway police station, after homebuyers sat at the SSP's office in Surajpur all day. Police said they will investigate the complaints before taking further action. The FIR includes 225 home buyers as complainants, and has invoked charges of cheating, financial fraud and criminal conspiracy under various sections of the IPC. The time period stated in the FIR for investigation is between 2007 and 2013, the period during which flats in Wish Town were sold. So far, only 5,000 of the 35,000 flats in Wish Town have been delivered.
As news of the FIR spread, more Wish Town homebuyers went to the police station on Sunday to get their complaints attached.
Angry over the delay in getting possession of flats, over 70 home buyers protested outside the office of Jaypee builders in Sector 128 on Saturday. The homebuyers alleged that they have paid 90% of total flat cost to the builders, but their houses were not ready to move in.
The sections invoked in the FIR are 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 467, 468, 471(forgery) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
