Security Deposit being asked

01-Nov-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I have shifted to a new house near Gurgaon bus stand. We were asked to give a rent of 9500 approx. per month. I have spend two days there. Now, all of a sudden the landlord wants security money deposit of 9000/-. He never even mentioned it before we moved in. There are two questions of mine- a) Is it legally correct to do the same. b) Is it legally correct to even give a rent of more than 9000/- for two furnished room?

Yes, it is legal. what you can do is get the security amount mentioned in the agreement stating that you have paid X amount which would be refunded or adjusted in the last 2 months of the rent. for your second question we cannot answer its your decision to take a flat or not.
