No, there is no rule regarding payment of double of security amount unless you have mentioned in your rent agreement. Technically, your landlord should give you a prior written legal notice for vacate the property and should give some reasonable time to find the other accomodation. This is a proper chain. Rest of the things I can tell you when I have your rent agreement in my hand because I dont know what were the terms and conditions mentioned in your agreement.

Hi. In the narrow conspectus of facts narrated by you, it appears that this termination is illegal. As far as the payment of double the amount security deposoted would depend on the your rent agreement and as far as giving notice is concerned I am of the view that you should not give it because that notice will be treated as your consent to leave and could also amount forfeiture of security deposit.

Hello, kindly see your agreement, is it mentioned in your agreement? No body can force you to give notice, when it is in limitation period. According to tenant landlord act nobody can vacate you before the period, which is mentioned in agreement.
