Payment of GST on rent of commercial property.

The landlord is asking me to pay GST on rent, while the registered lease agreement has a clause which states that during the period of tenancy if the government imposes any new tax then the lessee will have to pay part of it. The house that shall be paid by the lessor. I am the lessee , what should I do?

GST is applicable when the annual rental value to above rupees 20 lacs also as per the rules the GST is payable by the landlord. So in your case the GST if applicable when the annual rent that you pay is above 20 lacs
