Owner of flat not allowing to vacate even after 2 months notice

17-Aug-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I am residing in Bangalore with my family in a rented flat. Recently I changed my job and my work location is too far to commute so I notified my owner that I would be, leaving his residence after serving 2 months notice period as per Rental Agreement. But my flat owner is not letting us to vacate because the Rental Agreement was made for 11 months as per standard. Now he is saying if I leave, I have to pay rent for the remaining months till end of contract and he will return the security deposit only after end of 11 months. In this situation I seek your legal advice, please help me.

In the agreement between you and your landlord was the notice period mentioned in one of the clause if yes then you are entitled to vacate the premises after serving the 2 months notice period and the landlord is to pay you the security deposit. He has no right to stop you from vacating the premises. In case he does not pay you the amount you may file a civil suit for recovery against him
