Landlord promised new shop but did not give possession nor payment

23-Feb-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)

We had a shop which was rented, however in 2007 we had to evacuate the shop as there was road construction going on and we were promised by the landlord that we will get a new shop under ownership as all the money for the shop was given to the landlord. We didn't get a single penny for the shop but we were happy as long as we get a new shop under ownership. We got a shop in around 2009, however there is no documents and agreement for the new shop. The landlord is not willing to talk with us about the ownership and is asking for a huge amount or to stay as a tenant.

You can send a legal notice to the landlord asking him for specific performance of contract. Since there was no agreement/contract in writing, it is suggested that you shall gather as much evidence as possible regarding the verbal agreement and the money given by you to the landlord.
