Landlord increasing rent unfairly what action can be taken

dear mam/sir, we are living in a house of akhara prop from 70 years approx.the manager there asked for 50000 rs for repair of house.we paid him and he said your rent will not be increased more from 1100.the rent earlier to repair was 250 in 2010.after repair in 2001 he made our rent 1100.and all money in repair was spent by us.now again in 2016 he is saying i will increase rent to 1800.and i am the incharge i can do anything.they have many property in haridwar and all the tenants are increased rent like this only. what can i do?can i deposit rent in court? if we refuse to pay increase rent ,he after 1 year sends notice to empty house.please help.

It is difficult to prove the terms and condition of the rental agreement in case of a verbal agreement. You cannot file a case against your landlord unless you have a written rent agreement. you can also challenge the eviction in the court
