How long can I renew my lease agreement without loosing my rights

21-Apr-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)

I have let out my flat to a Private Ltd Company for its General Manager. The original agreement of 22 months was followed by 2 consecutive renewals of 22 + 11 months. All 3 agreements have been duly registered under the Section 24(2) of the Maharashtra Rent Control Act 1999. How long can I continue renewing my L&L agreement with the same licensee without diluting my ownership rights or conferring any rights to the licensee so that I can get peaceful and unhindered possession of my flat when required.

Your landlord tenant relationship will be governed according to your lease agreement. With the expiry of the lease agreement the lease will come to an end. You can renew the lease agreement for further period. You will not lose your rights on the property. You can vacate the tenant as per the provisions provided in the lease agreement or you can end the tenancy on the expiry of the lease agreement.
