Gave token money for booking want to cancel it can I get my money back
03-Mar-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I had paid rs.10,000 as a token money to rent a property in Delhi. But now I am not interested in that property. Please let me know if legally I can get the token money back or I should forget about it.
Please specify to whom the money was given. Whether it was given to broker or landlord. Also, whether any lease deed was executed. In case, the money was given to the broker for services rendered, then you may have difficulty in getting your money back. However, if the broker has cheated you in some way, you will have to file civil suit for recovery.
In case, the money has been given to the landlord as a security deposit and an unregistered lease deed has been executed, you would have to serve the landlord with a notice terminating the lease and thereafter vacate the premises. You would be entitled to the security deposit thereafter.

Hello,
Recovery possibilities are less but still not obsolete. In case you have receipts to show the payments made or any other form of contract subsists then recovery is possible. I would advise you to share more details about the said transaction before seeking opinion

If the payment is made by cash then you can't claim from him. But if the payment is made by cheque then you can claim that money firstly send the legal notice and after that you can file a case against the person under order 37 code of civil procedure.
there is one more thing, if you have any document with respect to token money i.e. any documentation then also you can claim the amount.
