Can society ask bachelor tenant to vacate the property

14-Apr-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)

I am a Bachleor living with two more house mates. Recently I saw a notice from my society asking Bachleor tenants to vacate. Just wanted to understand what does the law say.

as per your query, yes the society has the right to make rules and regulations for its residents.
If the owner of the property is a person, he has the following rights with respect to the property:
Possessing it
Enjoying it in any legal manner
Excluding others from it
Disposing it(sell,rent or transfer it)
Controlling it

Property rights are rights in rem. In rem rights are enforceable against the entire world.
So the person who is owning a property has the absolute control over his property. He can decide who to transfer it to or allow to live in it without owing any answer to anybody.
A registered society is a legal person just as an individual person but with no physical existence. So, it can acquire and hold property and possesses all the above mentioned rights of property owners.
