Can i install a non-folding PVC awning on balcony

I have a flat in pune, and wish to install non-folding (non-retractable) PVC awning on my balcony. Is it permissible as per pune laws? The society denies the permission and also said that only folding type can be installed. I don't want the retractable type.
THere is no such law which restricts you from installing non-folding (non-retractable) PVC awning on your balcony. the society also has no right to stop you in installing it. IS there any written rules of your society which says so?
