One clause in contract restrict me to do same job in future

05-Feb-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)

Hello, I am a doctor and I recently joined a aesthetic clinic that made me sign a contract of which one stipulation is (quoting) "You can't work in any hair transplant or dermatology clinics directly or indirectly after you leave this job". I want to know if this is legally binding? I mean, my whole life training is based entirely on these things and as a dermatologist, if I cannot do that job....what else am I supposed to do? Many thanks!

Section 27 of Indian contract Act, 1972 states that, "Agreement in restraint of trade, void – Every agreement by which any one is restrained from exercising a lawful profession, trade or business of any kind, is to that extent void. Therefore the contract that you signed with the clinic that is preventing you to practice as a dermatologist is not legally valid.
