Need advice on dealing with employer legal notice

22-Aug-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
I absconded from a company within 2 months of my joining due to bad work environment and unrelated work. I did not give resignation and also did not serve my notice period. Now, they have sent me a series of letters with the last letter asking me to pay Rs One Lakh within a week or else they will take legal action against me. I would not be able to pay that amount within the given time. Kindly advice.

if you dint like the work environment you should have resigned and served the Notice Period. but as you have not done that- is there any agreement between you and your employer which asks you to pay a certain amount if you leave the job in prescribed period. did you receive a legal notice from the company or is it just a letter. if its a legal notice then kindly reply the legal notice through a lawyer which will only help you get the case stronger. you can also negotiate with the company and pay some amount in case you dont want any legal action to be taken against you.

It seems like you may have violated the terms and conditions of your employment with the company. I recommend that you meet with the Company HR and fine a remedy to this, if not they may initiate legal action against you.
