Lied about going out couldnt produce certificates is that punishable

I was working in a aided college in Bangalore. I took LWP for about 8 months for medical treatment abroad. I did not go anywhere but stayed back. After reporting back told a lie that I had gone out. But could not produce visa documents. Is this punishable?
Why did you not go ? what did you do by staying back in that much long leave ? If your college authority is asking about the same means they have the right to ask. You tell them you lost your passport, visa documents while travelling from airport to house what else you can state for your ignorant and irresponsible and a lazy act.
