How to get salary from ex-employer

11-May-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
My employer refused to handover my pay cheque stating nothing will be paid whatsoever as I've absconded from work past 1 week. I've tried explaining the reason being a family emergency. As per what I read online Maharashtra Labour Law says they have to pay the dues after deducting the notice period amount. Is that true? Otherwise what are my options? I'm in a need of this money badly. Please help. Thanks in advance. Faz

You can send a legal notice to the employer demanding the payment of the same, if the same is denied/ignored then you can file a civil suit for recovery in the jurisdictional civil court.
