Extra amount received in F&F settlement can company ask for refund

hi , I need one suggestions , one of my friend is working in Non It Firm and he left company six months before . Since after leaving he got money credited as full and final settlements in account six months before. And but money got credited twice in his account by mistake by employer. He though might be its bonus something additional money he got from company. Now company dropped a mail to return it back after six month and he is not sure why they are asking to refund after six month. So can you please suggest what legal actions company can take against him if he won't pay it back. Thks
first we need to know the amount. if it is decent amount you can prolong the refund but i don't think there is clear law on this point. you can take the benefit of the said loophole of law . you can also counter claim to the company saying that the amount paid was not adequate as per your calculations.
