Employer not paying my salary for medical leave taken for surgery

I met with an accident while on the way to office. And had to go for knee surgery. And on leave for 2 months.i was covered under mediclaim insurance. But the company is not paying my salary. Can I send a legal notice to the employer?
your employment is governed by your employment contract thus, it is required to look into the terms and conditions of your employment contract as if it includes paid leaves clause only then you are eligible for the said salary.
