Contract for 3 years can I leave my job and join some where else

Working for a private company, unknowingly i have signed a contract of 3 years. Now i want to relieve, company asking for 3lac Rs. As compensation. They did not invest a single rupee on me. What shall i do. U have an offer waiting in another company and i want to join.

Such contracts can bind an employee however the bond amount can be challenged in a court of law if the company attempts to recover the amounts from you. The law provides that a company may not impose such an amount as a penalty and such amounts can only be recovered from the employee if the company has actually spent such amounts. You may however wish to issue a legal notice as a reply if you get a demand letter from the company. Feel free to get in touch if we could be of any further assistance to you.
