Can salaries of employees on probation differ from permanent employees

14-Apr-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
I seek to understand if an employee who is under probation period can be paid a different salary/remuneration from that what is paid to a confirmed/ regular employee in a private company. I understand that this is not possible in case of Government employees and that the remuneration paid to a probationer and a non-probationer has to be the same provide the two carry out similar work.

Hello,
In a private enterprise, salary is a matter of contract between the employee and the employer. So long as the statutory minimum wage is paid, anything over and above that is a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee, even where the employee is on probation.
