Can i work in a clients company immediately after relieving

I work in an IT firm.One of our client wants to open his own company with the same project which one is running with my current employers. She gave me a better offer of job and hike in salary . So my question is that if i join this new company can my current employers can make any legal action against me ?
Your query cannot be answered in total as one has to see the employment agreement which is there in between you and the company.
However, in general none can stop anyone from pursuing anything despite being in the situation wherein you both are on same platform and doing so would bring you both as competitors of each other or something of similar nature. The only exception there is that platform should not be an IPR subjects and /or you have not been trained for that platform at the cost of former.
