Can I fill my marital status as single as my marriage not registered?

I am 27 yrs old .. I was married.within 1 month we was separated but yet legally divorced not taken.. now i am doing preparation of government job but I am filling status single.. we didn't register marriage it was done as per the rituals of religion.. is there anything happens if I mentioned status single & any verification is their regarding marriage ,means as it is not registered so?
No, you cannot write your marital status as single married for 1 day or 1 month does not matter and in india more then 50 percent marriages are not registered this does not mean that you are not married. if in future someone objects then it would get you in trouble
