can I avail reservation benefits by submitting caste certificate

07-Aug-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
I belong to SC category. While going school and college in my early days I didn't submit caste certificate and obviously not claimed reservation benefits, so while when asked to fill up caste/category column in admission form I wrote as general. Now I obtained SC caste certificate which I belong. Question is that can I avail reservation benefits by submitting caste certificate. Is it illegal to apply as SC candidate because i didn't claim it in my academic institution? what is legally correct. What does our constitution say and under what provision I will be debarred benefit on that ground.

you can always avail benefit of the class you hail from despite the fact you were generous enough not avail it in the past. go ahead with the cast certificate and enjoy the benefit you never enjoyed in the past
