Allegation by company of stealing confidential data

i had quit my job in November and started my own business. In April i have received an email from the company putting allegation that i have stolen some data fro the company. Kindly help as i have not stolen any data from the company. I don't want any legal action taken against me, so how can i safeguard myself.
