Can i split my name in two syllables in my passport and no other docs?

25-Sep-2023 (In Immigration Law)

My name is Sudhanshu in my passport & all academic certificates. Can I split my name in two syllables ( Sudh & Anshu) in my Passport without changing the same in other certificates. will this be acceptable by US authorities and not creat any problem off FNU?

We suggest that you do not change your name as same can create problem in your US university.

I will not suggest doing that as this may pose a challenge verifying your educational credentials and matching other relevant details if you will ever apply for a nonimmigrant visa such as H-1/L-1 both by the Department of Homeland Security and by the Department of State. To maintain consistency, it is advisable to use FNU. Note that intentionally using a false name is, of course, fraud, misrepresentation, or both. Penalties for committing fraud in connection with immigration matters are severe.
