Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Abhishek Ghosh. My parents had an intercaste marriage where my mother was an ST and father belonged to an upper Caste. As soon as I was born, my father left my mother and I was brought up as a tribal and consequently, shared all the indignities, handicaps and deprivation normally suffered by the tribal community. My father never returned to us and as a result, we suffered a lot in the society. Now I have completed my studies and want to apply for a job under ST category. Please advice me as how to proceed further in this issue. Best regards, Abhishek Ghosh

Apply for caste certificate along with necessary documentations. You and your mother will have to give affidavit that after her marriage, till date, she is following the customs of the said caste. Concern revenue depth would issue you d certificate.

Even Hon'ble Supreme Court had taken the same stand in one of the case.
