parents against love marriage threatening to suicide
15-Apr-2023 (In Family Law)
Hi , I loved a girl and we both are employees and inter caste and at any cost the girl parents are not accepting , so we decided to get married near SP, if after marriage if the girl parents commit suicide , by mentioning our names in any form of suicide letter then , will the police arrest us? Please respond.
Sir
When both of you major then you can proceed with marriage. As you tole there is threat from the parents of the girl. Please lodge a complaint before you proceed to marry and in the complaint you should mention the emotional threat given by the parents for the girl to stop the marriage.
If there is a prior complaint it can save you in future.
All the best

The police in such event may or may not arrest you, and even after arresting you may get a release. But apart from law are both of you hope to enjoy for rest of your lives even after her parents have taken their lives for your sake ? What she says about it ? A girl who does not bother her parents dying is capable loving you ? What if some time after marrying that girl you start disliking her ?
It is always better to convince the parents before getting married since marriage is not just between two people and it involves two families. And if the girl's parents are threatening of committing suicide then approach the jurisdictional police and give a statement about your intention of marriage and also mention about the threats given by girl's parents and seek their help.
To be able to get married without any hassles, the best option for you is to convince the parents of both families through the elders of both families. If that doesn't work, file a complaint with the police about your apprehension and then get married
