Mentally abusing Mother in law

12-Apr-2023 (In Family Law)
Hi, I have been married since two and a half years and recently I gave birth to baby in august 2016. After the child's birth my mother in law started abusing me mentally. She always judges me in the upbringing and how I take care of my kid. She makes ruckus for whatever I do. Also I am working women. I work for 14 hours daily and even after going home I have to listen to all her tantrums. It is affecting me mentally, I feel like suiciding. I am not able to concentrate on my work also. Please advise me. I am a Hindu.

Hello,

First of all, talk to your husband and let him know the problems you are facing and convince him for living separately from your mother-in-law. If your husband accepts, then move on or else, lodge a complaint with your area police and have them register an FIR against your mother in law under sections 498A IPC and Domestic violence Act . Also you can make a complaint against your mother-in-law with the jurisdictional protection officer about the domestic violence perpetrated by her and later the complaint will be sent to concerned magistrate for adjudication where you can pray for a number of reliefs from your husband viz.,protection order, alternative accomodation and maintenance for your baby etc. Feel free to contact me if you need any help.

HI
You can call for a meeting of elders and ask your mother in law to take care of you and your child.

Or else, file a complaint under domestic violence act against your mother in law in the court .
Alternatively , please ask your husband to open up and support you when you are supporting the family by working and also taking care of the new born baby.
