I married a divorcee woman.I want to change her son's surname as mine

Hi, This is Gautam Nag.I have married a women who is a divorcee.She has a son.The son belongs to her previous husband.Name of her son is Atanu Kundu.Now I wan to change Atanu Kundu surname as my surname that means I want to make his name Atanu Nag.Now I don't want to involve her previous husband in this matter.I mean I don't want to inform her previous husband regarding this matter because I haven't infomred my family about the marriage till now. and her previous husband lives near my house.If he knows about the matter then my family will be informed about the marriage but I don't want that for now.In future I will inform my family.We have divorce paper and our marriage certificate.Please advise me how it is possible and if you take my case then what will be your charges.Kindly inform me how long it can take.

I appreciate your concern but the biological father needs to give a no objection letter and/ or affidavit that he doesnot have a problem that you alongwith her biological mother wants to adopt his bilolgical son and would take care of his all expenses and would not harm the child. This needs to be discussed across face to face for better understanding.

Hi,
It is generally not possible to change his surname. But you can do it by adopting your step son with the consent of his biological father. Though, there are other aspects to be considered. This procedure may take few months.

Mr nag this is possible if your wife does it through an affidavit either through notary public or through Magistrate and then publish the matter in the local newspaper the affidavit can be done by her mother if you want to know my charges to handle your case then you will have to call me and meet me in person for details you may contact this lawrato
