How to safeguard against family troubling son due to love marriage

My friends son is 20 years old n ran away with 21 years old girl n got married, her family people r troubling how to protect him n what law says
Both of them are consenting adults so no one can stop them from marrying. However if the girl''s family resorts to antisocial activities it is better to file a police complaint reporting the same. The law cannot prevent them anyhow.

File an application to the chief of police department of the area for the protection of married couple.
For a Metropolitan Area there is a CP office.
For urban area there is a SP office.
For every district there is a Woman and Child Protection cell which helps womens from any kind of violence. Married couple shall ask them for help of their own protection.
