How to initiate partition of family property and joint family status

There is quarrel in between me and my brother regarding property distribution...and my father is not willing to distribute it..he says you quarrel..I don't care..I wont do anything... Is it possible for me to do anything to make the distribution possible legally..??
Yes any coparcener have right to file partion suit the property is your ancestral or acquired by your father if the property is ancestral then the situation is diffrent and if self acquired property's of your father then different
