How to get the property partition done among brothers

recently madras high court banned registration of unauthorised plots in tamil nadu. My self and brother wants partition of property (with construction )which was held in my fathers name. whether partition among family members also will not be registered. This property purchsed at early 70's and building constructed at 1978. please help me in solving this. Thanks early
