Harassed by daughters and asking for money what can I do

06-Jul-2023 (In Family Law)
Both of my daughters are married, elder daught no problem but younger daughter is completely in the spell of her in-laws. I am against dowry but believes in making all around happy. So we spend a lot of money in reception of barat and in all related functions. We brought up our daughters like princesses. Now they are instigating my daughter against us. They never allowed her to visit us .. The situation was deteriorated at the time of birth of my grandson, they insulted us, beat me and my eldr daughter and dont allow us to see the lil one. Can we get any legal assistance in the matter pls.

It is unfortunate, yes you have legal remedy, you can loadge a police complaint against them and second there is recent law protection for senior citizen it is free and power with SDM. It is quasi judicial and conciliation proceedings, but effective.

Dear Mam your daughter can not trouble you for the dowry nor her in laws can act on her behest demanding dowry from you.The Dowry Prohibition act 1961 implies all remedies and there are equivalent legal remedy which can be exercised against them. Secondly married daughter you talking about can not force or ask you to pay her the expenses as she is not at all liable to be maintained by you there are number of laws established on this fact. Therefore a complaint can be lodged against them at local police station if you think that things are not working out in positive direction.
