अगर आपके भाई के विवा‍ह को 7 साल पूर्ण हो चुके हैं तो आप पर धारा 304 ब भारतीय दंड संहिता का अपराध नहीं बनता है, यदि 304 ब का अपराध बनना पाया जाता है तो धारा 302 नहीं लगेगी, 498 ए के बाबत आप अपने बचाव में जितने साक्ष्या जांच अधिकारी को दे पाएं उपलब्धय करावें, घर के अन्या सदस्योंि के अलग रहने के प्रमाण देवें तथा जांच अधिकारी का पूर्ण सहयोग करें उनको सत्य ता से अवगत करावें, साथ में पारिवारिक पंच पंचायती से प्रकरण के निस्‍तारण का प्रयास भी करें
