Can I sue my own family for domestic violence, abuse and torture?

17-Jan-2023 (In Family Law)
I'm 22 years old Muslim girl. My parents have always been partial towards my brothers. I've grown up listening to taunts and abuses. My father and older have beaten me up at several occasions. Currently I'm not allowed to study or work or even let out of the house. My dad abuses me all the time and my mother and older brother are always rude and pass taunts and demeaning remarks. They even try to take away whatever little money I have made and saved up. Their plan is to forcefully get me married off. I want to disown them and go my own way. But I'm not financially independent because they don't let me study or work. Can I sue and get my share of the inheritance and also compensation for all the torture I've been put through over the years ?

Naturally parents are taking at most care for their children especially when they are at teenager stage. You can get the share from the property of your parents & make police complaint for the tort .

You can file a case under D V Act against ur parents asking for specific relief in terms of maintenance and protection.Once you file a case you will get the relief in terms of protection and even you may ask for a separate resident for ur own.

You can file case under protection of women under domestic violence act. As per the provisions of demestic violence act you can get protection in share household, maintenance amount per month, etc but you can not get your share in property. You can approach nearest protection officer for filing DV case. And to get share in property you can file civil suit.
