08-Dec-2023 (In Family Law)
i was married in 2007 and i have a child. recently in 2015 my father-in-law was died and my wife asked share in the house. but they rejected and beaten me and my wife and sold my wife as brothel. So i am asking is there any chance to claim right in that property
Hello,
Yes. Your wife can claim her share in the property of her late father even if the property is a self acquired property or an ancestral property. However, you need to check that if the property is a self acquired one, your father-in-law did not bequeath his property to any other person. Otherwise your wife can claim her share. Feel free to contact me for any clarification.

Hi
Your wife has every right to claim her share of property that belonged to her father and more so when the succession has opened in the year 2015.
Irrespective of your religion, daughter's are eligible to claim their share of their father's self acquired properties.
