Can I ask to return all engagement gifts if marriage is cancelled

I got formally engagement before 09 months with a girl and it was all though an arranged marriage kind of set up.Now i does not want to get married with this girl because of personal reasons.At the time of engagement & after engagement we had given her lot of gifts (Gold,Jewellery ,Cash etc) Please advise can we ask them to return all our precious gifts,be noted this is a big amount.
As u have decided to cancel marriage you have to reimburse the amount / expenses spend by girl family and also charges for cancellation of booking if any already done and u have to return gifts and similarly u can also demand back gifts given by you to girls side

In response to your query my valuable suggestion in short are that engagement indicates that you are going to be married and it is sort of an contract between two parties. So now it is a broken contract and parties are restored to their previous position so you can claim all the articles and cash from the girl. But you also have to return all the girl side articles and you must keep in mind here you have broken the engagement so the girl side can also claim damages from you which they have incurred on engagement ceremony, their shopping for marriage and booking of hotels which they have paid advance, they can also claim mental harassment charges; but for all these things they have to prove that engagement is broken from your side without any fault of girl and her family.
